Virucidal Disinfectant Testing

Virucidal Disinfectant Testing

These tests are designed to provide virucidal efficacy data for disinfectant products challenged with various viruses. Testing is performed based on a modification of the AOAC Official Method 961.02, Germicidal Spray Products as Disinfectants (17th Edition, 2000), as specified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requirements set forth in the Pesticide Assessment Guidelines, Subdivision G: Product Performance.

For decades, disinfectants and antiseptics have been used to prevent the spread of dangerous microbes, including viruses. Basic information on viral epidemiology and transmission is of great value in determining the right way to test the virucidal activity of your product and choosing the appropriate formulation for inactivating a particular virus. Viral infections are transmitted directly or indirectly from one person to another and, commonly, are classified by the route of transmission.
