Microbiologist/Study Director

BioScience Laboratories Inc. is looking for an experienced Microbiologist to join our research team. The goal for this position is to advance into study director with a focused area on hard surface disinfectant efficacy testing. Direct experience is preferred but we are willing to train the right person. You must have at least a bachelor’s degree in microbiology or biology with lab experience, though candidates with a master’s degree are preferred. In this role, you will coordinate and work directly with a team to conduct antimicrobial product efficacy testing following standardized AOAC and ASTM methodologies. Candidates with experience running GLP studies following EPA 810.2200 Guidance for Efficacy Testing for Disinfectants for Use on Environmental Surfaces are greatly preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills are a must as you will work directly with Customers, QA, and other staff members to ensure testing meets GLP standards. We often work with manufacturing companies, so you need to be comfortable with standard sampling procedures and understand quality control and GLP standards. Having cGMP certification is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Conduct laboratory testing according to corporate and regulatory guidelines, including study design, protocol development, and final report preparation;
  • Conduct pre-project reviews and project management, including planning, staffing, and study implementation;
  • Client interactions, including sales support;
  • Oversee study progress, ensuring quality data;
  • Communicate with executive management regarding study progress and other relevant information;
  • Track microorganism growth and manage incubation, plating, and counting schedules;
  • Meet project timelines and study budgets;
  • Promote an efficient and professional work environment.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or microbiology (master’s degree preferred)
  • Laboratory experience
  • Organizational and analytical skills
  • GLP testing experience
  • EPA 810.2200 guidance experience (Preferred)
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience managing people and projects.

Laboratory Expert in Virology

BioScience Laboratories, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Virology Laboratory Manager at its laboratory facilities in Bozeman, Montana. A successful candidate will perform testing in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), other agency requirements, and corporate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Salary is dependent upon experience.

Job Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Oversee research and development endeavors

Skills and Requirements:

PhD in Virology, or equivalent

2 – 3 years laboratory management experience

Experience with Antiviral Screening IC50/IC90 and Cytotoxicity evaluation per ISO 10993-5

Knowledge of virucidal claims per US and European Standards

Experience with in-vitro skin and eye irritation testing using reconstructed human tissues (MatTek) and BCOP (Bovine Corneal Opacity and Permeability)

Proficiency in conventional virology methods, preparation of Viral cDNA libraries, isolation and maintenance of cell cultures of animal and human origin

Proficiency in PCR and Real-time PCR and Sequence Analysis

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000.00 to $75,000.00 /year

This position deals with sensitive volunteer information as well as communicating exclusion criteria for studies.
